Sabine Titz

Sabine Titz studied business economics at the University of Economics in Vienna, which she has finished in 2014. She specialized in transport and logistics as well as production management. After her bachelor’s degree she decided to continue her academic career and therefore she started a master study in transport and logistics at the BFI Vienna in 2014, which is expected in January 2016.

Sabine Titz’ bachelor thesis was about diversity management within the Austrian transport and logistics sector. The main focus of this research was the presentation of the current status of diversity measures taken within the transport and logistics sector.

Sabine Titz together with Anja Strickner have decided to write their master thesis together. In scope of their master thesis was to show the impact of parking management on the movement of shipments and services throughout cities, also referred to as “commercial traffic”. The master thesis provides a comparison focus on the cities Vienna, Munich and Bolzano.

Tamara Vlk

Tamara Vlk has finished her Master’s studies in Spatial Planning in Vienna in June 2014. She is employed as scientific project assistant at the Centre of Transportation System Planning at the Vienna University of Technology since 2011. Her main research fields are both, mobility of persons and freight transport. She is currently involved in five research projects, funded by the Research Promotion Agency (owned by the Austrian Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology and the Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy) and one Horizon 2020 research project, funded by the EU. Most of the projects she is involved as well as her Master’s thesis (“Facebook vs. Faltplan”, 2014) deal with individual mobility behaviour, mobility barriers and adequate solutions for eliminating existing problems. In the scope of her Master’s thesis the author assessed social media networks with regard to its usability for receiving information within the network of (urban) public transportation.

Tamara Vlk has decided to continue her academic career by enrolling for the PhD programme in Engineering Sciences in terms of Spatial Planning at the Vienna UT.

Concerning the scientific and research background of the conference it seems to be very interesting debating the topic of social media in public transportation in terms of historical perspectives and future mobility. Especially, the link between transport/mobility and communication (1) would be addressed by the submitted scientific paper and (2) would fit to the main fields of research, the author is involved.
