STRATUM participated and supported CONNECTBALTICA 5th Annual Convention 2015

Entrepreneur and President of Estonian Traffic Management Specialist Signaal TM AS, and President of ConnectBaltica Andres Peets has opened and moderated this Year’s ConnectBaltica Convention which was focusing the topic of Mobility. The event this year has been mainly held in Estonian language and has been directly broadcasted as video stream to the internet.

Mr. Keiu Rõa from Ernest & Young presented the results of the Ernst & Young study on the effects of road use charges in Estonia. Gilbert Konzett of Austrian Kapsch TrafficCom AG presented Italy‘s limited traffic zones – Z.T.L. Zona traffico limitato – for city centers and how it effects traffic within city centers.

After a networking break the second session of the convention focused on the controversy discussion regarding speed limits. Mr. Marek Rannala of Kami OU requests a general speed limit of 30 km/h within the city of Tallinn, whereas Mr. Ain Kendra of Draken Expert OU favors to rather increase the speed limit up to 70 km/h in order to have “Better and smoother traffic in the city”.

The Convention has been closed by round table discussion of all speakers and Managing Partner of Vienna based Stratum Traffic Engineering GmbH Christoph Demuth. One of the topics during the debate has been the possible implementation of Road User Charge (RUC) within the city of Tallinn.
